The species formerly known as Petalotricha ampulla (and now called Cyttarocylis ampulla) was described by Hermann Fol based on specimens from the Bay of Villefranche. Drawing on the left is from his 1881 publication (available from the Aquaparadox website: Classic Taxonomic Monographs). The inset photos show Hermann Fol in about 1890 and Villefranche in the late 1800's with the arrow indicating Fol's laboratory in the old Lazaret.
