Tintinnid Species Discovered in Villefranche by Hermann Fol
Images & original drawings of species found by Hermann Fol in the Bay of Villefranche. Fol (1854-1892) trained and traveled with Ernst Haeckel and also studied with René-Edouard Claparède. He was a Professor at the University of Geneva whose subjects were plankton, protists, embryology and even marine optics. He spent winters in Villefranche and his laboratory was the Lazaret (arrow).
