Specimens from the Chukchi Sea. Z-stack images of Bouin's-fixed specimens. This odd organism was perhaps first described by Cleve 1899 as Fungella arctica from Sptizbergen and then by Meunier in 1910 from the Kara Sea both with poor drawings. The inset shows drawings from Leegaard 1920 who described it as having a parachute. It is perhaps a life-stage of a Pterosoma-type flagellate like those described in Parke et al 1978.
